Cleanings & Exams Help You Maintain Excellent Oral Health
There is a reason why dentists and hygienists strongly encourage exams and teeth cleanings every six months. These appointments protect your oral health and save you money because we can find and treat cavities and gum disease early on when they're small and easy to treat. Early treatment is preferable to waiting and facing more costly and involved treatment in the future.
If it's been years since your last checkup and cleaning, we don't judge! We're glad you're taking positive steps and look forward to helping you achieve your goal of a healthier smile.
Cosmetic Dentistry for Your Best Smile
A healthy smile is crucial to your overall health and well-being, but feeling happy and confident about the look of your smile is equally important. We provide beautiful smile makeovers with cosmetic dentistry, including veneers, bonding, teeth whitening, and aesthetic dental crowns.
We Love Treating Children!
We recommend bringing your toddler in for their first visit by age three when they typically have all their baby teeth. Even though baby teeth come out, they hold space for permanent teeth.
Our caring team will welcome your child warmly and ensure that they feel safe and comfortable with us before we perform any treatment. As they grow, we'll be there to provide services like cleanings and exams every six months, fillings, dental sealants, and fluoride applications.
Customized Treatment Plans for Your Unique Needs
Every patient has unique needs, wants, and desires for their smile, and there's no single approach that's right for everyone. Once Dr. Katerakis understands your oral health needs, he will discuss your treatment options with you and tailor a treatment plan that fits your budget, timeline, and lifestyle.

Frequently Asked Questions
We are pleased to welcome children to our dental practice starting at age three because, at this stage, they typically have all their baby teeth. It's crucial to protect baby or primary teeth from decay, even though they will eventually be lost.
The Role Baby Teeth Play
Baby teeth hold space for permanent teeth developing underneath them in the jawbone. As the roots of baby teeth dissolve or resorb, the crown of the permanent tooth starts to form in the space.
If a baby tooth is lost too soon, the space starts to close, and permanent teeth no longer have an opening. They can come in at odd angles, leading to tooth misalignment and the eventual need for orthodontic treatment.
Dental Care As Your Child Grows
As your child grows and their dental needs change, we'll be there for them every step of the way. Prevention is a crucial part of children's dentistry, and we recommend exams and cleanings every six months as we do for adults.
Our hygienist will also work with you and your child to provide nutritional guidance and reinforce good oral hygiene habits. We also offer dental sealants and fluoride applications to keep their teeth strong and healthy.
Schedule Your Child's First Dental Visit
If it's time for your toddler's first dental visit, or you have an older child who's due for an exam and teeth cleaning, please call us to schedule an appointment. We look forward to welcoming them to our Troy, OH, dental office!

Your Comprehensive Dental Exam
We value that each patient is unique, and it's important to us to get to know the person behind the smile. Dr. Katerakis will talk to you about your oral health goals and ask if there's anything specific that you would like us to address.
Next, he performs a comprehensive dental examination, including gum charting, necessary x-rays, and an oral cancer screening. Dr. Katerakis uses intraoral cameras and digital x-rays during your exam so you can see what he sees and better understand your oral health needs.
Teeth Cleaning with Our Hygienist
You will also meet with our dental hygienist for a thorough teeth cleaning and see if any gum disease is present. If so, we may schedule you for a second appointment when we have time to perform a thorough periodontal cleaning to prevent gum disease from advancing.
If Dr. Katerakis recommends treatment, he will explain what's involved, and our dental team will review costs and insurance benefits with you. We will get you on the schedule as appropriate and start you on your journey to a healthy, long-lasting smile.
